Phil Foglio once said words to the effect that the Foglios were trying to establish their own little media empire.[citation needed] While it would probably be an overstatement to say they have achieved this, there are a good many products associated with Girl Genius, including games and merchandise featuring the characters from and world of Girl Genius.
The Girl Genius Saga[]
Without the original story by Phil and Kaja Foglio, there obviously could be no Girl Genius franchise. The original version of the story has been published as a series of graphic novels, which were later adapted as a series of prose novels by the Foglios.
The Games[]
Cheapass Games[]
Not only has Cheapass Games published Girl-Genius-related games and other games with artwork by Phil, the founders of the company, James Ernest and Carol Monahan, are friends of Phil and Kaja Foglio.

They don't include wholesale sales to other distributors (and for books, unlike comics, there are several), wholesale sales to bookstores or - and this is probably a big one - sales through Studio Foglio itself."
