Unless someone provides a reference that anyone, at any time, ancient or modern, claimed that any variety of troglodytes lived in or under water, I am going to remove the troglodyte references as irrelevant. I have looked over the references provided and do not see any claim that troglodytes have ever been sub-aqueous rather than subterranean. As far as I am concerned the resemblance of "Trogulus" to "troglodyte" is not very great and is most likely a coincidence. -- William Ansley (talk) 15:26, June 5, 2019 (UTC)

I agree that the connection is factually wrong, but I think the coincidence is too great to accept; I feel quite sure that the Foglios intended the name as a reference to troglodytes.  We should ask them at the next opportunity...  Bkharvey (talk) 17:36, June 5, 2019 (UTC)
I disagree about the similarity of the names, but the entry can stand, except for the sentence "The association with underwater life came much later.", which I have just removed. If anyone can demonstrate that such an association has been recorded somewhere that can be considered a reasonably reliable source that the Foglios were reasonably likely to know about, it can be restored. -- William Ansley (talk) 20:16, June 5, 2019 (UTC)
Ah, I see your concern better. I didn't mean a factual association; I took the immediately previous text to mean that D&D and/or Lovecraft used the name for an underwater race. But I have no knowledge of either. Bkharvey (talk) 23:44, June 5, 2019 (UTC)
