I believe this topic should have its own article. There are several important moments in the plot where it's the engine, not the wasps, that are the focal point for what's going on. No problem with keeping this redirect in place for the time being, but let's eventually replace it with a dedicated stand-alone article. -- that old bearded guy 03:56, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

- Hive engines can sit inert for some time and be reactivated.
- Slaver Wasps are carried in a brine in the Hive Engines.
- The Brine crystalizes over time, thus allowing the engine's creation to be dated.
