Quite annoyingly, I have found that trying to edit an infobox with the visual editor doesn't seem to work. I had to add the image using the "classic" source editor. I don't mind using the source editor, I usually use it by preference, but sometimes the visual editor is more convenient and both editors should work, in my opinion. -- William Ansley (talk) 04:33, January 8, 2018 (UTC)

This looks like a manifestation of a known wiki bug: if a template is included in another template, the classic editor won't work.  If I remove the two embedded templates from the infobox, I can go back to using the visual editor.  This has been a problem on the wiki that I'm an admin for.  The only solution I've been able to work out is additional coding in the first template so it doesn't need to include the second -- additional parameters sent to the first template that let it figure out the more complex details.
The new visual editor doesn't have this bug, but it does have other bugs and limitations that leave me preferring the classic editor. BunsenH (talk) 04:52, January 8, 2018 (UTC)
For example, you could add parameters "debut_date" and "debut_descr" to the device infobox template, and have it create the "GG glink" element, rather than using the "GG link" element directly when calling the infobox.  Done that way, the infoboxes could be updated transparently to permit editing with the "classic" editor, as convenient -- infoboxes that were using the old parameters would behave just as they always had, and there wouldn't be any visible change from the changeover. -- BunsenH (talk) 16:49, January 9, 2018 (UTC)
