Neena is an English princess, one of the seventy-four daughters of Queen Albia living in the capitol Londinium.[1] She's on the younger end of the spectrum with dark skin, and is among those tapped to perform "Galloping Heroes of the Waves" at an official soiree thrown by her mother to celebrate, among other things, the arrival of Deepdweller ambassadors. When we first meet her, she is preparing for this event with two of her sisters, "Rosie" and an unnamed blonde gal.

She's on the search for an appropriate husband, and evidently considers Tarvek to be a worthy (or at least "nice") candidate; they were studying in Paris at the same time back in the day and are on friendly terms. According to him at least, she's a brilliant scholar who has a reputation for causing museum-based havoc in the course of her (admittedly successful) archeological-type studies. When they get together for a dance at the party, she tempts him with the possibility of a peek at her latest discovery: an intact copy of Luceat's Life of Van Rijn, but this stratagem is disrupted by Agatha launching her Circus-abetted prank.

Later, it's shown that she works in the Royal Observatory (where again she has a reputation for causing daily disasters), and gets very excited when Zeetha casually reveals that she can read the Mysterious Text[2] on a plaque on display. The Warrior Princess goes on to translate enough of certain old writings that Neena can in turn give Agatha a good target for the next stop in her hunt for Prende's Lantern: a certain island in the vast British archipelago. An expedition is assembled, with Neena tabbed to accompany it.

On said island, her knowledge of ancient cultures comes in very handy when the expedition uncovers a large collection of sorted artifacts, collected by the still-mysterious Great Ancient Civilization. And then when events really get out of hand with the island is falling apart around everyone as swarms of monsters rampage, she reveals that she's able to call very directly for her mother's help. With said help, she is among the survivors of the expedition, and returns with everyone to Londinium. When Agatha returns to the Continent to try and free Mechanicsburg from its time-frozen state, Neena does not stow away on the airship, she discreetly tags along as an unannounced freelancer, and then blackmails Hadrian Rakethorn into allowing her to stay. She also reveals she's learned what she can about the Polar Ice Lords, even braving giant purple worm attacks to talk to some of their defected ex-followers.

  1. The status of Princess of the Realm can be given to women unrelated to Albia, such as Agatha, so this may not entail being her biological daughter. However, Neena does refer to Albia as 'Mama' , which suggests she is more closely related.
  2. Apparently called Ovalform 27 .
