Mr. Hissyfit was a clockwork snake, at one point belonging to Lucrezia Mongfish, but gifted ✣ to her nephew (via Serpentina) Theopholous DuMedd at his christening. The toy was large enough to knock a man into a punch bowl, and make an attempt (presumably serious) to eat one.

According to the artifacts lore, the snake attempted to kill Theo's father, the bishop, and a mimmoth before it was believed to have been destroyed by Theo's mother. Instead, it managed to make it back to Castle Heterodyne. It is also implied Lucrezia may have implanted an organic consciousness into the snake, similar to the way she did with the clank in Sturmhalten.
The Crypt Clank complains that it used to "slither around my circuits". Considering Lucrezia had a significant interest in learning the castle's secrets, she may have been using it to gather information.
