Masat was a Hungarian master storyteller. In-comic, we haven't heard very much about him, beyond the fact that his books have (supposedly) all been lost. Baron Wulfenbach uses Masat as a lure to have a certain storyteller unwittingly deliver a coded message to Gil. We also see a one-off scene depicting the storyteller meeting a very special TPU Professora for the first time, a momentous event which involves a book at least titled "Masat: Stories and Other Lies." Much later on, it's revealed in a 2022 side-story that one of Masat's works has survived, and is part of the treasure-hoard of Franz Scortchmaw, under the title "Tales of Star and Spark."

In Agatha H. and the Siege of Mechanicsburg, a lengthy footnote discusses Gaspard Masat in more detail, noting that he was a contemporary of the Storm King, and wrote extensively and popularly on the latter man's battles and reign. Sadly, even more extensive and obsessive editing and re-editing on Masat's part in later decades led to all his works being destroyed out of annoyance.
