Girl Genius 101 was the name of the limited-time offering by the Department of Almost Certainly True History at TPU, taught by the Professors Foglio and their associates. The class consisted of a review of the earliest part of Lady Heterodyne's history, from the last days she spent in Beetleburg ✣ as a student up to her early days with Master Payne's Circus of Adventure ✣ .
The same material had been serially published in a more erratically-accessible print medium, in 13 pulp-paper or "comic book" format editions, priced for easy purchase by the common working person who does not have the same access to library resources as those in academia. With the fourteenth issue, the artwork was reformatted for ætheric presentation, and the bulk of that issue became the beginning of the Advanced Class material.
Per the FAQ entry, when Girl Genius became a web comic, it was published in two streams, Advanced and Girl Genius 101. Advanced was new pages, 101 was the existing pages from the quarterly comic book, both published MWF.

Dates for Comic Pages[]
The 101 pages were originally given the actual date they appeared on the web. After the 101 class finished in July 2007 the pages were put in front of the advanced class pages and dates were assigned as if entire comic had been published on the web since the beginning. The first page went from Monday, February 21, 2005 to Monday, November 04, 2002 ✣ . (The original publication of the comic was actually in February 2001 when the first comic book was published.)
