Last panel discussion: I believe General Khrizhan is correct. While Klaus may be expecting something to happen when the time stop is lifted Klaus is absolutely not prepared for the series of events leading up to this final outcome. Klaus like Albia has cultivated an image as a seemingly omniscient strategist with the ability to predict and prepare for many outcomes. However, General Khrizhan knows that Klaus makes mistakes. The very first mistake we see Klaus make is when he does not recognize that Agatha is the new spark he was looking for. However, I will argue that Klaus has also made mistakes in razing Gil. Klaus basically set Gill on a path to try to prove that Klaus makes mistake's which results in Gil withholding his observations about Agatha. Yes, Klaus may be prepared for something to happen, but General Khrizhan correctly points out that it is unlikely Klaus will expect to wake up surrounded by Jager Generals led by Agatha supported by Bang and Zetha.
I don't know if Klaus will indeed surprise us all by his reactions (this exchange may be a bit of foreshadowing by the Foglios or it may be counterprogramming, as it turns out that Klaus does nothing when coming out of the time stop), but I like how this exchange between Jager general's gives more context about them and how they view their relationship with Klaus. How Klaus will react depends on whether the "Take 5 Ball" had a timer or not. Offhand assumption is it was set for five years. Then he is expecting it to shut off. Or is he expecting someone - Gil or Agatha or Lucrezia - to counter it? He thinks he has trapped Agatha/Lucrezia. Fred1740 (talk) 20:35, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
I'm really hoping that Klaus's backup plan involves whatever is happening on Castle Wulfenbach, that he gave Captain Patal orders to level Der Kastle/all of Mechanicsburg if it looks like the time-freeze is going to be lifted. - The one problem with that being a Klaus backup plan would be. How could Klaus be sure that Castle Wulfenbach would be near Mechanicsburg when the time freeze ends? Racing there after the fact would not work. Castle Heterodyne would bring down any air assault. The only chance would be to try to level Mechanicsburg the instant the time field drops on the hopes that the Castle Heterodyne will not be able to respond quickly enough to counter. A very slim chance. We already know that the Castel is still functioning and is no doubt on high alert as it is. Also, there is a way to communicate with the Castle, I would think Van would know to warn the Castle. Is it Zola, maybe but a greater possibility is something we have not considered. (Although, as Krosp reminds us, Castle Wulfenbach isn't impregnable; it could be some random spark, like the ones Gil and Bang had to fight off at the hospital.)
