I can't help but think of this page. Dooooomed! --Doug Relyea (talk) 05:31, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

This can't be the same flame they initially discovered... does this mean there are two flames or that the original flame split and created problems? Perhaps the whole thing was pressurized and years of disuse made it explode and lose half the flame downstream. Honestly, the flames remind me a bit of nuclear power - you want plenty of cooling material nearby flowing to the outside to release the heat, but to never mix the coolant with the nuclear material, lest you get radioactive contamination everywhere. Is that the source of the corruption? DLcygnet (talk) 15:16, 24 January 2022 (UTC)

According to Lunevka, "A Queen's Flame will usually arise from a natural fault in the Earth." , which makes it sound less like a discrete object, more like a gas or plasma that could emerge in multiple locations. We know it was already doing 'interesting things to the water' last time Lu visited, but something else has made it different and corrupted. I have a sneaking suspicion that the 'something else' is Monahan. Zibbiz (talk) 16:17, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
Hmmmm, could Dr. Monahan have in-depth knowledge of the crustal mechanics set in motion during the unsuccessful revolt of Pandorus Omnisiens and his cabal that is causing England to sink? Could that be why Lucrezia-in-Agatha challenged Albia-in-Trewlawney that Albia's flame is waning?--Doug Relyea (talk) 17:19, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
Was Lu's last visit before or after England sank? If before, we don't need Monahan as the agent. If after, then yeah, she's a good bet. Bkharvey (talk) 02:05, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Lu's last visit "thousands of years ago for you" would be some time before the revolt, which was merely "nearly three hundred years ago" , but the corruption is probably much newer, given the Deepdwellers only recently noticed the outbreak of Cursed Waters . Zibbiz (talk) 02:28, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Ah, thank you. Yeah, Monahan, then. Bkharvey (talk) 02:33, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Interesting to revisit that particular page with Moonbark's exposition and all this additional back-story/info. It seems more and more like her undying majesty is refusing to let her subjects flee because she would have to give up her power source (and immortality?). But perhaps the flame is dying... the "Your Flame... wanes..." comment is very loaded. If Albia were made aware of other unoccupied/untended flames on islands nearby, would she consider moving her people to dry land? DLcygnet (talk) 17:06, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Not sure we can assign a single, linear timeline to Lucrezia. Here third frame , Albia recalls Lucrezia visiting England, and I would think this was either during College or just after, and before she took up with Bill Heterodyne.--Doug Relyea (talk) 12:26, 25 January 2022 (UTC)
Yup, but I'm only considering whether Lu has been to Big Rat Island recently to cause the corruption. If it was her, she either lied to Monahan, or will go on to cause the recent corruption in her future timeline, both of which seem overly complicated, narratively speaking. Still, it's Lu, so who knows? Zibbiz (talk) 14:39, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

I wonder who these two are going to abduct and force to work on their little mini project... DLcygnet (talk) 19:39, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

It doesn't really make sense, but I'm thinking… Pierre. -- 🔧William Ansley (talk) 01:47, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
A good choice. If any creature walked up to Pierre and said "The mistress needs you to come with us and repair something" he would say "Don't care" and follow. The Beast would be very impressed with the authority the Castle has over humans. Argadi (talk) 11:19, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
I want it to be Pierre as well, but he's a very long way up . My guess is that there's a convenient building control system or clank nearby that the Castle can commandeer. Zibbiz (talk) 17:06, 27 January 2022 (UTC)
