Unusually clever rats of unusual size. But can they build a better people trap?--Doug Relyea (talk) 13:30, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

Try a different soap, Lady Steelgarter.--Doug Relyea (talk) 13:30, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

Pretty sure her being irresistible to the rats she has such a big aversion to is a play on how cats are seemingly attracted to those who aren't fond of them/are allergic. For cats apparently looking at them is seen as a challenge/dominant behaviour, while slow-blinking is a sign of trust. I wonder if Steelgartner is inadvertently showing behaviour that makes the rats think she likes them. Or perhaps they just know she's a friend to their master and want to show their appreciation. What is interesting here is that Lunevka is befuddled by either the water or the effluvia being corrupted. Using that exact term is likely no coincidink. I had previously assumed that the Dynelike Source leaching into the water was causing the creatures dwelling there to experience the same kind of symptoms as the fauna deep underneath Castle Heterodyne, a primitive form of jägerfication. But she seems convinced there's more to it, something ELSE is present. She's also adament that she's not involved and determined to find out what is happening there. Wouldn't it be ironic if she ends up being the person who inadvertently solves the problems of the deepdwellers? Or at least leads our heroes to it? Although it's much more likely she'd try to exploit it somehow. This will be relevant to the overall plot at some point, I am sure. TheCinC (talk) 17:01, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

So a Queen's Flame can arise independently of a 'spring'? They're different things? -- SpareParts (talk) 17:46, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
Lunevka does make that claim. It just so happens that so far, we've only seen them both coincide. Welp, I'd previously made the assumption they went together and that therefore Albia's was definitely located at the source of the Thames, but that now remains to be seen.. Wondering how many time loops Lucrezia has been in. She freely admits she was here thousands of years ago for Monahan - nearly 5 thousand years perhaps? When she was eliminating queens systematically? But then she says it was many more thousand for her... does that mean she's been in more than one time loop? We know about at least two time loops she's been in... going back to kill the queens and getting trapped in the past to take the slow path forward, but also getting trapped in the hermitorium in her clank form for hundreds of years. I'm not sure if Lucrezia experienced the passage of time while inside the Geister engine since she later says she can put more copies of herself into others; but in her interaction with Klaus implied the engine copy of Lucrezia's personality was waiting to be rescued at some point. Is she from the future? Did she try to travel further to the past to meet the GAC? The Geisterdamen? Where would she pick up different thousands of years? Actually, what does she mean by DIFFERENT thousands of years... technically that doesn't imply a larger number. DLcygnet (talk) 18:47, 7 January 2022 (UTC)

I think Lucrezia means its been thousands of years for her, but that thousands is jumping all over time in different times but still overall thousands. Its just different timelines than going back straight in time from this time. 66.24.30.222 03:53, 8 January 2022 (UTC)
