Many editors make long wikis.

Now that we see this in color, it's a mesa (that's the word I mean, right?) over very tall, almost-vertical cliffs. And it's not a large area; the perspective is a little confusing, but it doesn't look much bigger than the airship. (Why, by the way, is this large-looking airship visiting this obscure island on its way to taking Gil, Tarvek, Tweedle, Seffie, et. al. to Paris? I would have expected Agatha's party to be in something more like the size of the Mopey Tortoise.) Whoops, accidental comment on the not-yet-published next page removed. White cliffs? This suggests Dover. Remember--most of the British Isles are underwater. Did a part of Dover survive? Also, a mystery city, not on the maps? That appeared from nowhere? And may vanish back to nowhere? Are we looking at a GG Universe version of...Brigadoon ?! [1] Bosda Di'Chi 14:32, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
I think we've already seen Dover.DLcygnet (talk) 19:12, 14 May 2021 (UTC)
No, this isn't the ship going to Paris. That ship was landing in Paris in 15 minutes three weeks ago our time (2021-04-14 (Wednesday) ). This comic says "the next morning" -- to be the same ship the comics would need to be massively out of order. Argadi (talk) 11:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

P.S. What's up with that bridge down in the lower left corner? One end appears to dead-end at the cliff base, and the other seems to disappear into the water. Maybe this is a clue that the cliff is hollow and that's where the bad guys are? Bkharvey (talk) 04:19, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Were it not for the cliffs, I'd think we might be looking at the back of the Song Keeper. As it is Prende's Latern must be next to whatever was keeping this hidden. The airship Agatha and Party is on is easily as big as the one Gil and Tarvek are on. 2nd panel. Doug Relyea (talk) 04:58, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
No, I'd say you're misreading the scale, and we're a lot closer to the airship than the island. I'd bet the ship is at best the same size as that dome at the center of the island. --Geoduck42 (talk) 05:38, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Dock. The kind boats use. No need to overthink things. Scientician (talk) 12:09, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Are the surveys out of date? Of course not! The very idea! Those ruins are fresh built. -- SpareParts (talk) 16:22, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

And, of course, the Surveyors were English, after all. I miss Wooster. Bosda Di'Chi 18:34, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
I miss him too. But it's because of the temple (which I imagine is a seat of power rather like the one under the Royal Society dome) that the bad guys are congregating here, so it doesn't make sense for them to have just built it. But if they can mess with time, they might have built it 1K years ago. (But that would require something stronger than Prende's Lantern, which, we are given to understand, can only slow down time, not make it run backwards.) Bkharvey (talk) 04:44, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
I agree that these are probably the ruins of the Ancient Civilization, and not some new construction of Steelgarter and Co., but who knows how they were concealed before this. As for the Lantern, we don't know what all it can do, but Violetta mentioned a story implying that it can also be used to undo a time-freeze like the one in Mechanicsburg, which is the whole reason that Agatha is looking for it.
And I wouldn't be surprised if that lake on the island is what is contaminating the ocean. --Geoduck42 (talk) 05:49, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
(new to this, so watch for misformatting) *If* this was the island that Steelgarter & Co was heading for, watch for their airship to be moored somewhere on the island.

Faces in the water

I only just noticed that there are faces in the water at the left. Not absolutely positive about the bottom one, but the top two are totally clear. And under the bottom one is a script "dr" and under that a pair of breasts, looks like. And there are more faces, tiny ones, lower down; for instance, to the right of the bridge/dock there's one that reminds me of Trogulus. Bkharvey (talk) 09:06, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

I actually saw/see the lowest one first, thinking of Pikachu. Doug Relyea (talk) 12:57, 8 May 2021 (UTC)
Interesting. I don't speak Pikachu. But this raises the question, are we just seeing Phil messing around, or is it going to turn out that the water is alive and intelligent? Bkharvey (talk) 03:43, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
Pikachu, the Pokemon. Can't find it on the Internet, but I thought the first season there was a mark on their foreheads, located similar to the bindi Captain Dupree wears. I think the faces are just doodles, but only the artist can say for sure. Doug Relyea (talk) 04:53, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
I do see the top face, but not the other two. And, in the original pencil sketch, the top face looks considerably less face-like. I think all of the faces, and the other features you note, are just accidental arrangements of Phil's scribbles depicting battering waves. -- William Ansley (talk) 04:16, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
Middle face
Hmm, I'm not sure you can say "Phil," "breasts," and "accident" all in the same sentence. :) About the middle face, do the green lines at the left help? Bkharvey (talk) 04:27, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
Well, it helps me see where you think a face is. I'm still not convinced, but to play along, maybe the bottom face isn't clear because it's Doctor (your script "dr") Francisia Monahan in her mask. She definitely has breasts as Phil drew her in the cards from the original The Works game. -- William Ansley (talk) 04:51, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

New Volume 22 set up in Girl Genius wiki[]

I believe I have successfully made all the updates to this wiki necessary for the new volume 22, particularly new chronology and cast pages.

I considered changing the name of volume 20 to The Exorcism Engines, which is how Kaja has referred to it once or twice recently. However, looking at the PDF version on DriveThru Comics, I see that the name of the book on the PDF title page is The Exorcism Machines, so I decided to wait for a more definite announcement. -- William Ansley (talk) 04:38, 9 May 2021 (UTC)
