- Here gruff would mean not-overly pleasant, and not outright, overly abusive. I would have used the word shrill instead of high-pitched. He was Co-star in the movie Burglar with Whoopi Goldberg. Doug Relyea (talk) 06:42, March 25, 2020 (UTC)
